Euthanasia
At Portland Veterinary Service, the pet’s suffering can be ended peacefully and without any pain through euthanasia. Your veterinarian has undergone special training to make sure that your pet passes in a kind and humane way. Your pet will first receive a sedative from your veterinarian before receiving specialized medication for the procedure. The process, which lasts 10 to 20 seconds and is comparable to being put under general anesthesia for medical treatment, occurs without the animal being aware of it.
